Everett Public Library May 04 2008 : The Pacific Northwest Folklore Society teamed up with the Everett Public Library to present an outstanding concert performed on Sunday by local folksinger Bob Nelson and the regionally renowned Reggie Miles, who makes his own guitars from garage sale goodies and is one of the few people in the last 9,000 years who not only knows how to play a musical saw but does it extraordinarily well! In spite of the sunny weather, Bob and Reggie regaled well over 50 fans with their musical wit and charm!

Kamiak Orchestra goes to Gresham March 11-12 2005 : Kamiak Orchestra traveled to Gresham, OR for an orchestra and string ensemble competition. We arrived Friday night at our hotel where students played in the pool, played instuments in the stairwell (the most beautiful music could be heard ever so faintly -just magical!) and had a very good time. I was impressed with the dedication and maturity of this group.

I was also impressed with the outstanding logistical support provided by the Boosters - I observed a very smooth operation run by friendly, pleasant parents who always put the students first.

On Saturday, we headed over to Mt. Hood Community College, site of the competition. Our Orchestra performed brilliantly and flawlessly. I've played in semi-profesional orchestras in Canada and I can tell you that these students play and sound like professionals. We were all so proud of them all!

We also had two string ensembles in competition: Kammerstreich and Anonymous - stunning performances from both. In spite of the stiff competition, Kammerstreich earned the second place trophy in Division 5B!

Kamiak Orchestra goes to Diamondhead 2005 : Diamondhead was a respiratory challenge for me- I was so exhausted that I could barely take any pictures! A big thanks to my friend Diane Babcock who inspired and encouraged me to get to the top! The kids, on the other hand, scampered their way up and down in no time. Most impressive...

it was easy at first - relatively flat, concrete trail which soon gave way to a rocky, increasingly elevated pathway which ended at a daunting flight of yellow steps. The yellow steps (which were calf-killers!) led to a cool, refreshing tunnel. Unfortunately, it turned out that the excrutiating yellow steps were just the warm up for the spiral staircase from he-- which we encountered at the end of the tunnel. Going down was a lot more fun!

Kamiak Orchestra goes to Waikiki April 07 -14 2005 : I was sad to depart after the Pearl Harbour tour. What a great group of students - so well behaved and delightful traveling companions. Kamiak parents and the Mukilteo School District should be deservedly proud of this group. Kudos to Mr. Steves and the Performing Arts Boosters group of chaperones for a job well done!

My photographic mission was to take primarily random shots which would give you, the viewer, a feeling for how our days looked and felt. My only regret is - no audio!

I have interspersed "place" pictures with student/chaperone pictures. Some of the "place" pictures are from Maui so my folks could enjoy them without having to go to a separate gallery.

So far I am working on uploading images from our first three days - it will probably take a week or so before all images have been uploaded so check back often!

Because this gallery is so big, I can only keep it up for a month - if you want pictures, please order now! Please feel free to make comments either for the entire gallery or for a particular picture - look for the little "comment" bar at the bottom of the page. I did not know everyone's name so please help me identify people in the pictures. If anyone pictured does not want to be in this gallery just let me know.

Luke Coffey and West Van Band 2006 : I was so entertained by the amazing performance of Luke Coffey and the West Vancouver Band on Saturday, January 28th 2006 at the Kay Meek Center. "Godzilla eats Las Vegas" was unbelievable and the "1812 Overture" was masterfully performed.
